What wine made you want to become a winemaker/start your own winery?
The opportunity to raise awareness and money for local nonprofit organizations through every bottle we produce and sell.

What varietals do you work with? Which varietal/wine is your favorite to make?
Chardonnay / Albariño / Sauvignon Blanc / Pinot Noir / Grenache / Cabernet Sauvignon / Petite Sirah / Tempranillo / Graciano / Mataro / Garnacha. I do not have any favorites – I love them all

What vineyards do you source from?
Paso Robles:  La Vista, Hastings, Derby, Onx, Bovino

Edna Valley: Jesperson, Green Gate Ranch

Santa Lucia Highlands: Paraiso

What type of oak treatment do you use?
Generally no oak or neutral on our white wines; 50% new French on the reds. Some Spanish and American for our La Macha blend.

What do you love about your winemaking region? What makes it different special?
Ideal terroir for a wide range of varietals; positive attitude and level of collaboration among winemakers and others working in the industry.

What’s the story behind your winery name / label?
We want to project a brand that is approachable; not pretentious and also fun.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about the wine business before you started your own winery?
Marry rich.

Most importantly, what's so great about being small? What can you do as a small winemaker, that wouldn't be possible for larger wineries?
Talk to nearly every one of my customers.

How do you view the future in the wine industry for small-lot winemakers?
The future is so bright you’ve got to wear shades.

If you could choose another wine region to work in what would it be?
Valle de Casablanca, Chile
